Creature Double Feature Horror Rock

Creature Double Feature WARNING! To preface this you must know that I, Jimmy, Love some outside music. My friends get most concerned. I do not care for I may not have all my ducks in a row, but I know where the reptiles are and A Flamingo will never pull a fast one on me.

I Have deep allegiance to The Cramps, Beefheart, and the works of Rocky Erickson and John Frusciante’s solo albums. So when I was contacted today by “Astro Al” about the latest release “Creature Double Feature” It hit that Big Grin factor. Is this self Indulgence? Why Yes, Yes it is.
Music is always supposed to be fun and sometimes rock and roll horror.

There are great Multitudes of “Serious” music out there and it is fun as well. However, on Occasion, You just need to make something that’s, well Seriously Fun. I’m talking Vampires and Monster Movies, and The will to be weird has to be a part of your life, or you are missing out.
“Creature” appears to be in the area of the 36th release involving Astro in some form. The Performances found here are by Al, DNA GIRL, and Count Robot. Additionally Spoken work by one Steve O’Brien.
During a Discussion on How paths Crossed, Well Astro and I were Both Backstage and Nodded recognition at The Space Rock Con in Alabama and both friends of Nik Turner. But I digress.

  1. ‘Kings of Terror’ is an Ode of love and attraction to The Likes of Bela Lugosi and Vincent Price. Straightforward guitar and vocal by DNA GIRL with some atmospheric colorations. Voices of Narratives from classic Black and white Viddies are defining what Haunted House you will reside in for the following 40 minutes.
  2. “Skull of the Vampire” follows as you are greeted by Mr. O’Brien at his Deathbed. He is Disappointed in you. I won’t spoil why. A demented calliope of sound fuels his Lecture. Mood is merely one thing this project excels at.
  3. “SharkGator” Well If you are a Hillbilly and I am 50% I am 100% gonna be Killed. Yet the upbeat tone assures me that I will at least die Horribly and smiling.
  4. “The Phantom Beat” Soundscapes are my particular favorite and spoken word makes it even better. Liquid Prose melting
  5. ” Bigfoot VS, The Werewolf” is Post Punk Guitar DNA GIRL Laying out the Love Triangle of the Beasts. Make ya wanna Howl .
  6. “I Was a Teen Age Ghost” Is a nicely played and well thought out guitar . It is THE Ballad of Revenge. There is a certain Raw Beauty to the vocal, and a Very Certain Message. There’s gonna be some Killin’s up in here …up in here.
  7. “Graveyard Music” is an Instrumental for the End of days. Plagues of Locust that Play guitar.”
  8. Come to Me” an authoritative plea for Love just out of reach. The sounds of invisibility.  Blackness conveyed via song in perfect fashion
  9. “Monster from Beyond the Night” A Ghost Story around the campfire-style piece backed with Violin stabs to accentuate the Lament of the loss of the culture so many of us were addicted to,The Creature Double feature. The Midnight Movie.

Now do not be quick to conclude the descriptions being brief means anything negative. It’s the simple logic that if I tell you all about the movie, well then you don’t need to see it now do you?  So I’m teasing and Trailing. This is one you must hear for yourself.
I again am writing it on the very eve of its release If I’m not mistaken, Because I personally find it Remarkable. It’s Removed from It is its own thing, and in today’s world Originality is worth far more than Gold. I find it thoughtfully Executed (pun intended) by people who love what they do, and I do too. It’s not for everyone. It’s for people like Me and possibly you.                                                       Light a candle, put the Tv on Poltergeist fuzz and take a trip and never leave the farm. Bravo Folks. I dig it.
