1:So Gary How Long Ago did you start working on your Burnt out Wreck Songs “This is Hell” and “Stand and Fight”?

Well This Is Hell came out 2019 so I used ideas that I already had waiting and wrote some new songs 2018/19 to make up the numbers. As for Stand And Fight most of it was written in 2020/21 during lock down.

2:Your previous album “Swallow” was said to be Rough, raw, ragged, and rockin in a review is there more Rough, raw, ragged, and rockin on your latest album “Stand and Fight,” or did you venture into more experimental music?

Yes Burnt Out Wreck are just a rough and ready straight ahead blues rock sounding band it all blends very well I think

3:How was the transition from being a singer/drummer to a singer/guitar player and have you any tips on how to make the transition?

Playing drums from an early age and sang backing vocals for many years until 1991 then I became the front man vocalist/guitar player. It seemed the natural thing to do I guess at the time. Just do it its worth it.

4: What guitars are your favorite and Why do you prefer to play them?

Gary Moat Burnt Out Wreck with his les paul guitar

Well I like Les Pauls Probably because of Thin Lizzy back in the day but if it feels good and sounds good play it no point being a snob about it some of my best guitars have cost £30 or less!

5:Going back to your first band, Heavy Pettin’, which was formed in 1978. How did it feel to be around the scene in that era?

H P were formed 1981 but 3 of us were in a band together through the 70’s,we were about 17/18 years old in 1978 and went to see all the Big names so yes it was great to be part of all that and made us even more determined to try to get a deal for ourselves.

6:You start playing at 12? do you feel it’s important to learn while you are young and how would you encourage a person who thinks it is too late in life to start learning guitar?

Being young helps especially if it is what you want to do but you can learn new things at any age you just have to keep trying as with everything in life.

7: What are Burnt Out Wreck’s touring/album plans for 2024?

We have a lot of shows booked for 24 starting in Glasgow in Feb but theres always offers coming in so we shall see how it works out. As for a new album, maybe in 25 Ive been way too busy with stuff so perhaps I’ll write some new songs early next year to add to the ones I have waiting to go. Thanks for the support Gary.
