5 Songs for Guitar Using G, D, and A

When it comes to learning songs on guitar we all hit the barrier of trying to learn a song with a tricky chord progression. This can really break your rhythm if you are not upto speed with your chord changing skills. So sometimes it’s better to just focus on a song with the chord progressions you know how to change fast and without thinking too much about the next chord to play. So I have picked these five songs using the chords G, D, and A which is an easy enough chord progression to master. You don’t have to be Alice Coopers guitarist Kane Roberts to play along to these tunes and you can just use a site like Chordify to give you the basis of the tunes.

1:Brown Eyes Woody Guthrie

This song is a real country style song to play using the chords G, C, and A the Chordify version in 453 Hz of “Those Brown Eyes” by Woody Guthrie is using flats but you can transpose it to get a basic chord version of the song with premium which costs $35 a year but there is also a free version but it does not allow you to transpose or slow and speed up the tempo. Alternatively you can use these tabs from Ultimate Guitar.

2:Farewell Rod Stewart

This second song uses another form of the A chord at times which is the Asus chord but it’s mostly just G, D, and A for the most of the tune. I have speed it up near the end also. If you want to learn the song from Chordify here are the chords for the song by Rod Stewart from 1974 Studio version of Farewell or alternatively you can use these chords from e-chords if you want a printed version of the Chords and lyrics.

3:Big Yellow Taxi Joni Mitchell

While the official version is in the key of E according to Chordify you can easily play this tune with a Capo on the 2nd Fret if you have a capo. Ultimate guitar has a slightly altered version using 7th chords but it’s much the same as a G, D, A Progression

4:Blowing In The Wind Bob Dylan

This list would not be complete without a track from Bob Dylan his famous ballad from the 60’s Blowin in the wind is just a D, G, A progression most of the way through. Here are the lyrics and chords to the song should you need them for future reference

5: I’ve lost my Baby Fleetwood Mac

This song by Fleetwood Mac’s featuring the sounds of Peter Greene and Greeny despite it’s exotic and ghostly sounds is also mostly just using a G, D and A Progression. If you want to learn it on Chordify click for the playalong you can also get the chords and tabs here on guitartabs explorer.
