As with many of their previous singles, the duo has a story to tell.

As Pete explains: “I had the simple idea of writing a song from a buskers and street artist’s perspective,  but the song quickly garnered a wider remit thanks to the power of an urban rumour and inevitably social media. While I was searching for inspiration, I came across the unlikely but incredible tale of Sir Paul McCartney busking incognito on London’s South Bank to unsuspecting punters.

The story goes that he played for 30 or so minutes and  didn’t make much and moved on.”

True or not, the rumour poignantly illustrates the way people receive their music and art through media “gatekeepers”. In this case, had they known it was Sir Paul, there would probably have been thousands listening.

As Pete summarises: “I also thought it would be perfect for John’s Beatle style harmonies, subtle chord changes and vocal phrasing, all of which come together superbly on the song’s middle eight.”

John Simpson:   “For this song  I took Pete’s words and set them to an existing piece of music/melody I already had, having realised the words would fit.

I was rather pleased when the chorus and the bridge just came to me as I was working through the recording,  from where I do not know.  Being a Beatles geek, I am particularly pleased with the “oooo” after the 2nd mention of McCartney, but I hope there’s plenty to keep normal people interested too.”

Described by Rock biographer /author Alan Clayson as: “Gifted with concentration on the possible via the eternal verities of verses, choruses and bridge section,”  the duo are hoping to release a full album in June.
