A Collaborative Blues-Rock Statement
“This is probably our best one so far,” says Boris Zamba. “It could’ve been called Collaboration Blues because of the amazing players involved, but when Pete Feenstra sent me the lyrics for the title track, everything just dropped into place.”
Indeed, In The Heart Of The City feels like a culmination of everything Voodoo Ramble has been building toward. The album features key contributions from:
Muddy Manninen (ex-Wishbone Ash) – slide guitar on Midnight Ride
Mick Pini – blues tone master on I’m A Bluesman Baby
Marcus Flynn (The Guitar Legends, 10cc, Fun Lovin’ Criminals) – scorching solo on 4000 Years Old and director of the video
These legendary guests bring their own distinctive voices to the record, but it’s the vision of Boris Zamba and his collaborators that ties it all together.
Standout Tracks from In The Heart Of The City
🎧 1. In the Heart of the City
The title track captures the chaos and rhythm of love and city life. It sealed the album’s direction for Boris and co-writer Pete Feenstra.
🎸 2. Take You Home
A rootsy mid-tempo groove with intertwined acoustic and electric guitars. Damir Šomen’s drums drive the tension home.
🔥 3. Midnight Ride
This one’s a slow-burning blues about forbidden love. Muddy Manninen’s slide work oozes emotion, perfectly echoing the story.
🎙️ 4. I’m A Bluesman Baby
A straight-up blues jam featuring Mick Pini. Recorded live-in-the-room style in Mick’s “House of Happiness” studio in Germany – no frills, just feel.
🕰️ 5. 4000 Years Old
Inspired by the resilience of love and the enduring symbol of the olive tree. Marcus Flynn turns up the heat with a killer solo.
💔 6. Don’t Leave Me 4 Good
A horn-drenched, emotional blues ballad where Boris channels his inner Gary Moore with melodic firepower.
🚪 7. Walk Away
All about indecision and emotional fences. Boris turns this into a riff-heavy rocker that bites.
💋 8. Cold Hearted Woman
A danceable shuffle with tasty call-and-response vocals and killer vibrato guitar leads.
🌵 9. I Refuse (to Feel The Blues)
A stomping, Eastern-tinged slide workout that blends roots blues with a fresh global twist.
⚡ 10. Addicted to the Rush
The closing track is a full-throttle rocker about modern life’s overwhelming pace – a fitting finale that pulses with urgency.
Crafted With Soul & Precision
The album is brilliantly produced and mixed by Dragutin Smokrovic-Smokva (aka “The Fig”), giving it a warm yet punchy sound throughout.

“We’ll Just Ramble On”
Following the critically acclaimed Home Again, In The Heart Of The City takes a big step forward in songwriting, sonic depth, and performance.
As Boris puts it: “We wondered what to do next… the answer was in the songs.”
And those songs? They hit hard, groove deep, and walk the line between rock and blues with confidence.
Whether you’re a blues aficionado, a rocker at heart, or just someone craving real-deal musicianship and soul, Voodoo Ramble’s new album is worth your full attention.
